The culture of violence against women sustains itself through the insidious reflex of victim-blaming. The Spotlight Initiative, an EU and UN programme dedicated to ending violence against women and girls, required a narrative intervention that Nigerian audiences would intimately recognise from their own lives. I first crafted this piece as a short story and subsequently adapted it for the screen to confront this ingrained prejudice directly.
