For many young Lagosians, the orishas exist primarily as distant historical names. Bkna Rkna reimagined these deities for an immersive beach-camping festival, demanding fresh voices for ancient forces. I authored their origin stories, manifesting their desires and defining their iconic weapons in prose that treats Yoruba mythology as a thriving, contemporary literature.
