Step into a portrait of Nigeria at a turning point, a country shaped by beauty and hardship, pride and disappointment, but never finished telling its story. Here we used the country's 60th Independence Day to challenge the idea that its past had already determined its future.

Because things still appeared to be bleak, we provided honesty about a country confronting record youth unemployment and a generation searching for its place in the future. This Independence Day poem turns that uncertainty into a call for collective responsibility, asking young Nigerians to look beyond individual success and consider what they can build for one another.
2022
A national spoken-word competition that grew into a platform for emerging poets across Nigeria. I co-wrote and performed the launch film, bringing humour and defiance to the everyday frustrations of Nigerian life. We also created a masterclass for contestants to empower them with the tools they needed to thrive in the competition and beyond.
The competition received a record number of entries that year, reaching more young poets in underserved regions of Nigeria and broadening participation beyond the Lagos-heavy representation of the previous year. The campaign was shortlisted at the 2023 D&AD Awards and at Nigeria’s LAIF Awards.
